Teesside in the North East of the UK covers the towns of Middlesbrough, Stockton on Tees, Redcar and Hartlepool and has some of the most amazing wedding venues and photographic locations.
Whether you are looking for a registry office wedding, Church Wedding or a large venue or both there is something to match all tastes and budgets.
As a local wedding photographer and having lived in the area for 50 years I am well placed to recommend some of the best places for you and you will find some links further down the page to more information on venues.
Middlesbrough Town Hall Registry Office - Erimus Suite , a beautiful bright and well lit ceremony room with very helpful and friendly registrars.
There are lots of local car parks and it is accessible via lift with plenty of room for your photographer and videographer. The Neo Gothic architecture outside the Town Hall provideds ample opportunities for group photos and confetti and inside the Italian Marble suits beautiful Bride and Groom Portraits.
Stockton on Tees Registry office is in a quiely situated area with free on site parking, another beautifully decorated room with wonderful staff and registrars and within easy distance of the high street and its many restaurants and venues.
There is a small green area in front of the office for photos and I would highly recommend a local landmark such as the Infinity Bridge for photos.
Teesside also has some of the most amazing Churches for Religious Ceremonies here are a just a small handful.
The beautiful 12th Century Saint Cuthberts Church in Ormesby is the picture postcard perfect leafy country lane Church with gorgeous interior and exterior easy parking and access and a long entrance path and wooden archway for photographs.
The quaint village of Stainton in Middlesbrough has the Parish Church of St Peter and Paul at its heart with another amazing interior and quiet village setting.
How about the lovely early English/Gothic architecture of St Mary the Virgin Church in Nunthorpe with the backdrop of Roseberry Topping !
As for venues Teesside has a lot on offer from smaller pubs and clubs to larger halls and estates. Here are just a few of my favourites in the area.
Acklam Hall is Teessides only Grade 1 Listed Wedding Venue and boasts beatiful grounds, a wonderful staircase and amazing restaurant. Situated on the outskirts of Middlesbrough with its own private parking and plenty of opportunities for amazing photos this is one venue to definitely check out.
Nestled on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors you will find the 4 Star Country House of Gisborough Hall, an amazing venue able to accomodate weddings large and small with many different locations to hire and simply stunning grounds, fountains, arches and woodland, and an amazing chandelier lit main room with grand staircase.
How about something different and completely unique, HMS Trincamolee is a restored post Napoleonic Navy Sailing Frigate found at the Marina Area of Hartlepool in Teesside, getting married on a ship is certainly something special and the surrounding recreated 18th century seaport and trade shops add a little extra magic.
There are lots of venues too that are lovely and wont break the bank at the same time such as the Parkmore Hotel in Stockton on Tees a beautifully converted Victorian House retaining many of its features along with Spa Gym Pool and Restaturant.
Home to the Pennyman Family in the heart of Industrial Middlesbrough is National Trust owned Ormesby Hall, this classical styled Georgian Mansion with parkland and Victorian gardens will certainly tick the boxes for those looking for some impressive historical surroundings.
Once you have sorted out your venues Teesside has a never ending supply of amazing locations too which you can sneak off too for a photograph or two !
